Stuck in a rut
Use your car’s floor mats to improve traction. Don’t stand behind the steering wheel with a floor mat underneath you, as the mat may pop off. You may have to repeat this process a few times to free yourself (and potentially ruin the mat), but it’s better than being stranded on the side of the road and putting yourself in danger.
Prevent ice from forming overnight
For windshields and windows, fill a spray bottle with 3 parts regular vinegar and 1 part warm water. Just before dark, spray the mixture evenly onto windows and windshield. The acetic acid in vinegar keeps water from freezing without damaging your vehicle.
